A sci-fi tale by: Baseballplyr
“Ah, another lovely day on Neptune,” said Schlhibinofa (sklib-i-nofa) (also known as Scwib). Scwib was born on Neptune on July 28th 3010. He is now 2,645,942 years young. Scwib is just like any other person except that he has only one arm. When he was born, they had to surgically remove it due blood loss. Scwib is four feet tall and about 75 pounds. He has big dark blue eyes and light brown hair. He always is cheerful and doesn’t let many things get him down. His hobbies are collecting bubble juice bottles, for fun, juggling pies, usually apple, and playing video games.
It was actually Scwib’s first day at school today. He was so excited that he gulfed down 8 sausages, 3 grilled cheese sandwiches, and 6 eggs (sunny side up of course). After a huge breakfast, Scwib jumped in the hovercraft with his parents and flew to school. The reason he didn’t take the hover bus was because it was old school. It only flew 6,000mph and it didn’t even have a bathroom or TV. However, his parent’s hovercraft was very new. It could go 11,000mph and it had a bathroom, TV, and even a hot tub for longer trips like to Pluto or Saturn. His school was on the planet Mars. They got their in about fifteen minutes. Scwib said goodbye to his parents and then headed off to school. He was seeing a lot of kids that were very different from him.
At Scwib’s school the kids had recess first, just so they could get their energy out before they went to their classes. While outside, Scwib smelled a very interesting smell. It was something that he had never smelled before. Being the little adventurous kid he was, he had to follow it. The problem with Scwib was that he never thought twice about doing things or what could go wrong if he did them. This smell led him out into a vast place of darkness and stars. However, he could not stop following the smell. He finally got so far out into space that his planet was not much bigger than his fist. Even though it was far away, Scwib decided to keep going. He saw many planets and stars. He saw the rings of Saturn and Jupiter. He also saw Uranus and Mars as the smell got closer and closer. The aroma seemed to be coming from a blue and white planet. As he got closer, he couldn’t stand it anymore. He moved as fast as he could not keeping track of where he was or where his planet was. He started to feel a little different as he approached the planet. He started to feel much heavier until it felt like he was falling. In fact, he was falling. The gravity from the planet was pulling him in. Scwib was now spiraling down to the blue planet at a very dangerous speed.
BAM!!! He hit the ground like a ton of bricks। Thankfully he landed in a lake. However, the impact was horrendous and he had major bruises and trauma all over his body. He swam to the edge of the shore, tried to calm down, and think about what had just happened to him.
“Ok,” said Scwib out loud to himself, “I was following this great aroma when I suddenly started falling and then... it was all a blur.” He had lost the track of the smell and he had no clue where he was. “What else could go wrong” he bellowed. All of a sudden, he heard a crack of thunder, and it started to rain. Poor Scwib! He was out in the middle of nowhere, it was raining, and he missed his parents dearly. He crawled into an abandoned house close to where he had landed. He decided to claim it for himself. He made a few adjustments just to make the place a little more comfortable.
Then… from out of the blue, the smell: it was near. He hadn’t come all this way for nothing. It was strong, so he knew he was in the right place. In his excitement he started singing, “Over the River and through the woods to the great aroma I go.”
There, the smell. It was coming from a small shack. There was a sign… “CuFi MeNea,” Scwib said in confusion. Scwib didn’t care, he liked the smell and wherever it was coming from, he wanted it. It was so close. There was no stopping him now. He ran into the parking lot, over a few cars, and right into the store. He followed the smell to a table in the back of the room, and there… there it was… a cup of black stuff. The look of the liquid did not quite compare to Scwib’s description of it. Therefore, he hesitated before ripping it out of the old lady’s hands. He looked deep into the steaming, brown liquid and took his first sip. At first, he thought it had an interesting taste, but then… he tasted it and found the true meaning of why this place sold it. For a moment, he was in awe. It was like drinking pure happiness.
He was so excited that he blurted out the first thing that came to his mind, “I need another one.” However, there was one problem. Scwib didn’t have any money to buy the coffee with. He had to think of a way or surely he would die without the remarkable drink. He went outside to think. A piece of paper lay on the ground.
“A lottery ticket,” Scwib said in confusion. He didn’t know why he picked it up, maybe just because it looked interesting. An old man walking by happened to catch a glimpse of the numbers on the lottery ticket.
“You won!” he shouted, “You won the big prize.”
“What,” said Scwib, “What did I win?”
“You won the 20,000 dollar prize,” screamed the random guy.
“Really?” said Scwib.
“Yah, all you have to do is cash it in, and they’ll get you your money in a couple of days.”
“SWEEEEEEEET,” said Scwib in excitement.
He went to the nearest bank and cashed it in.
The wait for the money was absolutely unbearable. He needed coffee and fast. He couldn’t wait for it any longer. He made it so they would bring the money right to his door. The delivery had to come soon. It had been a whole four days. Ding Dong!
“Ah,” yelled Scwib. Paranoia had pretty much taken over Scwib’s little body for the past four days. If Scwib saw any fast movement or heard any loud noise, he would freak.
Scwib ran to the door. “Finally,” Scwib yelled. “Here’s the pizza I ordered only about 3 HOURS AGO!!! He ran back into the house and started eating. Ding Dong!
“AHHHHH!” Scwib yelled for about the hundredth time. He ran to the door.
There it was. The 20,000 dollars. He went to reach for it, but the guy holding it pulled it back.
“Okay,” said the guy. “I’ll give it to you, if you pay the $9.99 that you owe us for shipping and handling.”
“But, I don’t have any money to give you for shipping and handling.”
“Oh, I was just pulling your buttons kid, here you go.”
“Oh, thank you so much sir, I will definitely use this money wisely,” lied Scwib.
As soon as the guy left, Scwib ran to the nearest CuFi MeNea and bought as much coffee as they had. Since he liked the drink so much, he decided to bathe in it. He brought all of the coffee to the old abandoned house, poured the steaming hot liquid into a huge tub, and then sank in. He would usually bathe in the tub for 2, 3, and sometimes 4 hours before he started to drink all of it. Since he now had some extra time, he decided to make some bigger renovations to the old abandoned house. After a couple of days, it was finally a pretty decent place to live.
Scwib stayed there for many years still drinking lots of brown liquid. But, as the years went by, he found himself missing his parents more and more. One day he decided that he would gather as much brown liquid as he could and fly back to live with his parents. He would have to have enough for a lifetime (Just in case, he stole the recipe). He put all of the liquid in 374,937 McDonald cups (Don’t even ask me how he got them). He got everything he needed and then headed of into space. There was just one problem though: he wasn’t able to fly up for some reason. He tried jumping, hopping, and even running and jumping, but nothing worked. Well one thing was certain. Scwib was stubborn, and he wasn’t going to give up that easy. He went and rented a rent-a-car, got a whole bunch of metal, and started working.
After two weeks of working, Scwib was finally done. He had put wings on the car and a jet propeller on the back of the car so hopefully he would be able to fly up into space, ditch the car, and then find a way back to his home planet. That was just what Scwib did, however, once he had ditched the car, he didn’t know which way to go. It had been so long since he had been up in space that he had forgotten where his home planet was; yet Scwib did not give up. He remembered passing a couple of planets that he had passed on the way down to the blue and white planet. He found Saturn and Jupiter with no problem. He also found Venus and the Milky Way a bit easy to find. So, now that he knew that he was close, he had to find his home planet. Then, out in the distance he saw a little blue planet about the size of his fist. It had to be his home planet! He wanted to get there fast, but he couldn’t because he was lugging around tons and tons of coffee. After about eight hours, he finally landed on Neptune (His home planet). He was so exhausted that as soon as he touched ground he fell asleep.
He awoke to a soft nudging on his shoulder। He looked up and he saw two blurry faces. He hadn’t quite woken up yet so he couldn’t really make out the faces. After he rubbed his eyes a few times, he made out the faces of his mom and dad. He immediately awoke and greeted them with the same warm smile they had remembered. Scwib was amazed that he was actually home. It felt great. After he had gotten settled, he went and shared the coffee with his family. They loved it. They loved it so much that they introduced it to the whole town. Scwib had become a hero for bringing the new brown liquid to his planet. In fact, they built a statue of him in honor of how much they appreciated him.
Scwib is now living happily with his family in the safety of his home. Hopefully now he will think twice about things before he heads off and does them.
